The End of November

November 30, 2008

Hello all,

I just got back from taking little Helo for a walk. He is so full of energy, he ran most of the block. Robyn and I found out a few nights ago that our little puppy is afraid of the dark. He has no problem going for a walk at nighttime, as long as its on the lit sidewalk. Once we get to the dark alley, its a whole other story. He whines and cries and we end up having to carry him.

This week seemed to go on forever. Work was good, but Saturday seemed to drag on forever. I really hope that Saturdays pick up at Staples, because it seemed very very slow in the store, but not in Parkland Mall.

However, I did get to meet Greg Shannon, of KGCountry 95.5FM Red Deer. There was a promotion for charity called Stuff-A-Bus, which started earlier in the week. The local radio stations hosted it and raffled off prizes and auctioned off donated merchandise to raise funds for needy families. Vance loaned Greg Shannon a chair from our store to sit on as they were short a chair. Vance also donated around $2000 in clearance items to the Stuff-A-Bus drive. Anywho, on Saturday, Greg Shannon came into the store and talked to Ken and I about auctioning off the chair that Vance loaned him. he said they could do a few things to/with it and probably get around $1000 for it (the chair was only $200). We were all for it, however we had to get the ok from Vance as we were approaching out limit of charitable donations for the year. Ken gave Vance a call, and unfortunately we were unable to donate the chair. Ken then sent me to give them the bad news. Greg seemed disappointed, but alas there was nothing we could do. I did try to get Ken to give the Stuff-A-Bus drive Kelly, as he desperately wants to get fired and that way we could get rid of him for a good cause.

Tomorrow, Helo has to go into the clinic to get his shots again. Should be a good trip and Helo will take the pain, lol.

It is now Sunday, I am doing dishes, laundry, burning dvds, and cooking pizza. It seems like its going to be a productive day.

My Remembrance Day

November 11, 2008

Hello all,

So here is the latest updates in my life,

My truck would not start the other day, Robyn and I decided to go to West Edmonton Mall and we went out to my truck and it would not turn over. I priced a new starter at Auto Value, $180! A lot more than I was expecting.

However, when we got back from Edmonton, the truck started with little trouble and hasn’t had any problems starting since Monday afternoon.

While at the mall, we had lunch at Hooters. It was quite an experience, the food was alright, the wings were good, a bit pricey, but good. Our waitress was kinda incompetent, but that wasn’t the reason she was hired. We asked us if we wanted our bill before we had received our food, and asked the guy in the next booth if he wanted dessert before he had received his meal.

Robyn and I bought a couple of Sirius radios over the weekend. Staples had a few that went on clearance so we got a deal on both of them for only $30. They seem to work pretty good so far. She’ll use it far more than I will, as I’m only in my vehicle for a few minutes each day.

Robyn and I are also in the market to purchase a property for revenue purposes. If I had it my way, I would buy it myself so there would be less hassle on what the ultimate plans are for it, but we are going to buy it together.

Currently we are looking for something that includes a basement suite (that we would live in) and use the revenue from the upstairs to pay the majority of the mortgage. I have to talk to our mortgage broker this week and get our information to her so we can go house shopping. Ellen Sue is helping a lot by forwarding property listings from her real estate guy for us to look at. We saw one that we were interested in a month or so ago, but it’s probably sold by now. We may buy before Christmas, but may wait until the spring. It’s really all up to when we find the right place.

Well, that is all from now, check out my facebook profile for a picture of little Helo Agathon Levy.

My Recent Updates

November 4, 2008

Hello all,

So it has been a little while since i’ve last posted. Helo is doing well, he’s pretty much house-broken with only problems at nighttime.  Currently, we are working on getting him out of the habit of biting us so hard. We purchased a spray bottle from Walmart the other night and it seems to do the trick so far.

My job at Staples is going well. Rentention bonuses are going away in January, so I will have to decide then on if I will stay or leave.

It seems as if Obama will beat McCain tonight. Although I am not a fan of McCain, I believe he would make the better president, I just don’t think  Obama has the necessary experience to lead the US. I believe that the true reason that Obama is winning is the hatred of George Bush and the economic crisis.

Anyway, I’m kinda tired so I will write more next time.

Our Puppy

October 17, 2008

Hello all,

So Robyn and I purchased a puppy from Riverside Kennels. We names him Helo Agathon Levy, after a character on Battlestar Galactica. Robyn would not allow me to name him Apollo or Starbuck.

So little Helo is a Dashshun/Terrier mix and is a very small puppy. We are house-training him right now, and it is going pretty well so far.

I will be posting pics of him soon, once we decide to take some.

On another note, I am in the process of purchasing a house for Robyn and I. The one I am looking at has 3 bedrooms upstairs and a 2 bedroom suite downstairs. If all goes well, we will get the mortgage for the house, move into the basement suite, and rent the upstairs for around $1200+

I will keep you all posted on how the mortgage and house hunt is going.

My First Celebrity

September 20, 2008

Hello all,
I know it has been a long time since I’ve last posted, I hope to rectify this situation by filling you in on what has been going on in my life over the past few months. But today I will just tell the story of how I saw my first celebrity today.
I currently work at a Staples in Red Deer, Alberta. I was walking through the mall with my Divisional Manager, Ken Coulton, and I noticed this guy walking with a woman on the other side of the mall walkway. I thought he seemed familiar but I couldn’t quite place him. Anyway, it suddenly came to me, “That’s Chief Tyrol!”

So I turn to my DM and ask him if he’s ever watched BSG, and he goes, I’ve seen the show a couple of times, so I say, “Is that the Chief?”

We both walk back out into the mall and he sees the guy and goes, “Yes, that’s him!, BSG is filmed in Vancouver right?”

I agree with him and we go back into our store. He then turns to me and goes, “We should get him back in here, you know he’s a Cylon, right”

And i go, “We should get him back in here and ask him how it all ends, since filming is all wrapped up”

So that is the story of my first run-in with a celebrity from one of my favorite tv shows ever. I have no idea why he would be in my mall in Red Deer, its not that impressive. The only thing better would be if he was in the market for a business machine, as I am the sales manager of that division.
