Sales, Soccer, and Entertainment

March 3, 2008

Hello all,

First off, I would like to apologize for not updating yesterday, it has been a hectic couple of days. My original plan was to post each and every day, but I think I will miss a day here and there. I just wish I hadn’t missed one so early on.

Well, let’s first start off by describing what happened on Sunday. I started the day negotiating with buyers on Facebook Marketplace for the sale of both my armoire and two bedroom dressers. The armoire ended up fetching a price of $60, but had to be delivered to her place. The two dressers got us $40 which was about $20 more than we paid for them. So in the end, I feel we came out ahead on each sale.

Sunday was also highlighted by my soccer team’s first point in several hard fought games. We tied the Slickster’s 1-1 in a needlessly close game. Our team, Saint John Inferno, played very good, with stiff offensive in the first half and tough defense in the 2nd. Don Laver came up with some impressive stops and only allowed one goal on a re-directed header from one of our own players.

After the game, I was able to catch the stellar programming on Fox. The Simpsons was mediocre as usual, King of the Hill was alright, no standout moments, Family Guy, while usually quite innovative, was drab this week, basically having one joke recycled for the entire episode. Finally I was able to catch the series premiere of Unhitched. This show was kinda funny, Craig Bierko  managed to steal the entire show with his comedic presence. I had no idea he could be this funny, especially given his last role on Boston Legal (though he was pretty good on there).

After Unhitched, I was able to catch some reruns of Battlestar Galactica. The Eye of Jupiter two-part episode really reminded me of just how great this series is. Almost Season 4, only another month!!

During Battlestar Galactica, I was able to fill out my answers for the interview questions for a potential job. When I move to Red Deer, Alberta at the end of this month, I hope to gain employment with Edward Jones as a financial advisor. I feel the interview went really well and my answers were thorough, yet concise. The interview process is quite lengthy, so I will keep you all apprised of any developments.

So that was my day on Sunday, fairly busy as you can see.

Monday started out with calling the local Zeller’s stores and scheduling my L’oreal reline dates. I have been recently contracted to rearrange all of the products and updating color swatches and product lines for L’Oreal and related brands. This means that I will be spending three different days in three different Zeller’s rearranging shelving and promotional displays. Apparently, one store will take me almost 12 hours to do, which I don’t mind as $12/hr is pretty good for this area of the country.

After I finished scheduling my merchandising duties, I had my interview with Edward Jones. As I said above, I feel it went very well and I hope to hear back soon. It was an online interview as the position I would be applying for is located in Red Deer, Alberta. The interview was followed by personality surveys and an online application, which was very very in depth. I have never had to fill out as much information as I did for this online application. Some parts were difficult as I had to work out my annual income based on my wages from several different jobs with varying hours. Completion Time, 1.5 hours.

So now I am sitting on my futon (which is very uncomfortable, note to self: never buy the cheapest futon from Walmart ever again)  watching the Engagement Ring on CityTV. This movie is horrible and stars Patricia Heaton. I have never been a big fan of her, though she is tolerable on Fox’s Back to You with Kelsey Grammer. She cannot act at all in this movie and I feel that her roles should be limited to supporting roles only. She does not have the ability to carry a movie all by herself.

Well, I hope to post again tomorrow, so check back often
